As the UK’s biggest wedding show plans its return to London Olympia on 26-28 February and Birmingham NEC from 4-6 March, The National Wedding Show’s Glam Squad reveal the top trends for brides to look out for this season. Taking centre stage at the Wedding Theatre, Professional Make-Up Artist Ariane Poole, celebrity Hairdresser Cinta Miller and Fashion Stylist Claire Ginzler will share their top tips on hair, beauty and styling for the whole wedding party.
Professional Make-up Artist Ariane Poole always suggests that brides (of any age) look like themselves but better – more polished and photo ready – on their big day. She suggests that those wanting to try out a different look should try it at least 6 months before the big day to ensure you are truly comfortable and own it when the day arrives. Whether you want to enhance your natural beauty or go for something different, Ariane shares her favourite looks for achieving either effect.
“The Naked/Natural Look is perfect for the bride who normally wears little or no makeup or for the bride who is having a beach wedding. This is NOT a no makeup look rather it is cleverly applied neutral tones giving the appearance that you are totally natural”. To get the look, try Ariane’s Ultimate Face Tint instead of foundation, with a soft neutral shade on the eyes, a hint of mascara, a soft rose flush on the cheeks and a tinted lip balm to complete the look.
For the bride who really loves her makeup and wears makeup nearly every day, Ariane recommends the Fashionista Look. She says: “Think strongly defined eye, cheeks and lips – a la Kardashians!”
Commenting on the latest hair trends, Cinta Miller explains: “2016 has seen a rise in texture! Tousled locks are big; loose waves and natural texture. Colour is on the rise too, with brides wanting more sun kissed glows and tones running through”. She goes on to say: “Brides are starting to want to look like themselves on the big day and go with their own identity as opposed to conforming to a traditional look.
The rock and roll bride is a typical example of this. Beachy looks and a softer natural style is also more common than glamour and bling. Hair extensions are big news this year as they really to help achieve these looks!”
Revealing the latest bridal trends, from ‘dare to bare’ to lingerie inspired body contouring corsets, Claire Ginzler shares the key styles to look out for this season: “Necklines are still prevalent, ranging from the plummeting to the more subtle. Off the shoulder is particularly key as is showing off the back – you can be daring with an open back and lots of embellishment, or opt for a romantic look with a sheer chiffon back.
Vintage-inspired short skirted dress remain popular, and are perfect for brides who want to show off their legs, while a traditional long dress with a thigh high split or a short dress with long chiffon layers over it are the styles to go for if you want to subtly show some skin.”
For brides looking sor something a little different, Claire suggests: “Several designers have incorporated separates in to their collections, such as high waisted skirts and matching tops, or a simple dress with a matching sheer jacket. Alternatively, the red carpet continues to influence bridal style, with lingerie incorporated into dresses and body contouring corsets proving more popular than ball gowns. Slip dresses are also being modified for the aisle, with dramatic embellishment such as feathers and floral appliqué proving popular.”
